The safety of our students and staff is always the highest priority of the Moses Lake School District. Recently, an electrical incident at Groff Elementary prompted a decision to temporarily close the school to allow MLSD to thoroughly investigate the cause and make necessary repairs. Throughout this process, MLSD has garnered valuable information about electrical injuries and how to respond to them.
As a result, MLSD has developed Electrical Injury Guidelines to help students and families understand what to do if they experience an electrical incident—whether at school, home, or elsewhere.
It is also important to recognize that symptoms may develop gradually after an electrical shock. Therefore, immediate testing and ongoing monitoring are essential to establish a baseline for future evaluation and treatment.
By staying informed and prepared, we can help keep our students and staff safe at school. We encourage you to review these guidelines together at home. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to your school administration.
Your continued partnership in ensuring a safe learning environment for all is genuinely valued.
